Blogger: Marlon C. Parieaho
I only had to read one post from Marlon and I was hooked. In a recent message to me, Marlon described himself as: “sarcastic blogger, disability advocate and assistive technology trainer (sort of) …”
On Twitter, just below his name, it reads:
“…COOL, EASY GOING, AMBITIOUS, PROFESSIONAL, A COP AND OH YEAH… BLIND …”
Apart from all the blind-specific and general wisdom he imparts through his blog, reaching us all the way from Trinidad and Tobago, Marlon would like to educate and advocate, reaching out to both blind and sighted people …
His mission is evident in a recent post, where, after managing to assist someone at an ATM, he wrote:
“I am so happy that my first interaction with assistive tech, almost four years ago, wasn’t my last. I enjoy finding out new ways to do things. I enjoy sharing them with other blind individuals. It is my sincere hope that someone who knows anyone who has a visual impairment, and who is struggling with coping with sight loss, will read this story to them. I hope it inspires them to believe that whilst their eyes may be darkened, their attitude to life ought not to be. I assisted a sighted person, just imagine what you can do!”
Feel free to visit http://www.theblindwayforward.wordpress.com to read more great posts, but if you do, a small word of caution: try not to read Marlon’s posts in public. People, including myself, have been known to embarrass themselves with some uncontrollable and inexplicable behavior when reading his posts.
